I BOUGHT IT AND PUT IT IN MY GARAGE WITH THE INTENTION OF GETTING IT ROADWORTHY AND TIDYING IT UP FOR MY SON AS HIS FIRST CAR BUT THAT NEVER HAPPENED, THAT IS WHERE IT STAYED, IN MY GARAGE FOR 10 YEARS. IN TOTAL IT HAS LIVED IN A DRY GARAGE AND NOT DRIVEN FOR BEST PART OF 17 YEARS!!
SO, TO GET WHERE WE ARE TODAY WITH IT, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MANY PARTS. STANDING IN GARAGES DOES NOT DO ANY CARS ANY GOOD. MOSTLY PROBLEMS WERE DUE TO PERISHING RUBBERS, SEALS, RUSTING BRAKE DISCS AND DRUMS, EXHAUST AND SIEZED ALTERNATOR BEARINGS.BRAND NEW PARTS FITTED ARE:-TYRES, BATTERY, EXHAUST, STARTER MOTOR, ALTERNATOR, FUSE BOX, RELAYS, BRAKE SHOES, BRAKE PADS,BRAKE DISCS, REAR BRAKE CYLINDERS, RUBBER BRAKE HOSES, WATER PUMP, PLUGS AND LEADS, HEAD GASKET, PLASTIC WHEEL ARCH SPATS, CARPETS, WINDOW RUBBER SEALS, CV BOOTS, STEERING GAITERS, RUBBER BUSHES AND MOUNTINGS, DRIVESHAFT OIL SEALS, GEARBOX SELECTOR SHAFT SEAL, ROCKER GASKET, TIMING COVER OIL SEAL.THE FRONT WINDSCREEN WAS BADLY SCRATCHED DUE TO WIPER BLADES SCORING THE GLASS SO I HAD THIS REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW SCREEN.
THE CAR NOW STARTS FIRST TIME, RUNS LOVELY AND STOPS AS IT SHOULD. IT IS MECHANICALLY SOUND AND AS ITS A 1275CC ITS NIPPY!
BAD POINTS. WELL THIS MINI IS NOW 32 YEARS OLD!! SO I’M BEING PICKY BUT HONEST.
ALTHOUGH THE INTERIOR IS IN GREAT ORIGINAL CONDITION FOR THIS AGE, YOU WILL SEE FROM PHOTOS THE STEERING WHEEL STITCHING HAS STARTED TO COME APART AT THE JOIN.THERE IS A DENT IN THE BONNET, THE PAINT WORK HAS LIGHT SCRATCHES. THESE TWO NEGATIVES DON’T SHOW UP WELL ON PHOTOS. THE FRONT GRILL IS VERY PITTED AND NOT PRETTY DUE TO AGE. TO BE EXPECTED THOUGH!
THE ELECTRIC WEBASTO SUNSHINE ROOF WHICH IS A GREAT ASPECT OF THESE OPEN CLASSIC MINIS WORKS PERFECT NAD CAN BE SHOWN ON A VIDEO BUT DUE TO AGE AS WITH ALL THESE ROOF COVERS IT HAS SHRUNK AND WOULD APPEAR ONE OF THE WIRE TENSIONING CABLES HAS CORROADED.
BUT, I PURCHASED A GENUINE NEW ROOF COVER WITH THE NEW TENSIONING CABLES INSTALLED AS ONLY THE GENUINE ONES CAME WITH THIS AND IS INCLUDED WITH THE CAR. I BOUGHT THIS ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO BUT IS STILL IN ITS BOX AND ONLY REMOVED FOR THE PHOTOS ON THIS LISTING FOR YOU TO SEE.
ALL IN ALL A GREAT LITTLE INVESTMENT FOR A CLASSIC MINI OF A SORT AFTER MODEL BEING THE VERY LIMITED EDITION OPEN CLASSIC WITH THE ELECTRIC ROOF AND THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR STILL INTACT AND GREAT ORIGINAL CONDITION.
