How to book a pre-purchase inspection mechanic for your MINI
Buying a used MINI is exciting, but before you commit, it’s smart to know exactly what you’re getting. Through our partnership with ClickMechanic, you can book a trusted mechanic to carry out a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) at the seller’s location. This gives you peace of mind and a professional opinion before you buy.

Agree on a convenient time when the car can be inspected at their location. The inspection usually takes 90–120 minutes.

A mechanic will be assigned. You’ll receive a booking confirmation which you can forward to the seller.
4. Inspection day
The mechanic arrives, carries out detailed checks, and takes a short test drive (around 10 minutes).
5. Receive your report
A detailed inspection report is emailed to you, highlighting the car’s condition, any issues, and recommendations.
What’s included in an inspection?
The inspection covers a wide range of checks depending on the package you choose:
- Interior: Seats, upholstery, trim, seat belts, switches, and dashboard condition.
- Electrical: Lights, indicators, wipers, horn, climate control, infotainment system, and battery voltage.
- Road Test: Engine performance, brakes, gearbox, clutch, steering, suspension, and stability.
- Engine Bay: Oil, coolant, hoses, leaks, belts, and mountings.
- Wheels & Tyres: Tyre tread, wear, wheel condition, spare wheel/kit.
- Bodywork & Exterior: Paintwork, corrosion, glass, panels, and locks.
- Brakes & Suspension: Pads, discs, shock absorbers, suspension arms, joints, and power steering.
- Transmission & Underside: Leaks, mountings, bearings, driveshafts, and clutch components.
- Fuel & Exhaust System: Lines, tank, catalytic converter, exhaust pipes, and DPF (if applicable).
Depending on whether you book the Basic, Standard, or Premium package, the depth of inspection varies. Premium inspections include the most comprehensive checks, covering all of the above.
